What our students say
About us
How it started
Platicali was created by Alina, a Spanish teacher with 8+ years of experience teaching students from all over the world.

After moving from Russia to Mexico, she fell in love with Mexican Spanish — its expressions, humor, and the way language connects to everyday life and culture.

Today, Platicali is a small team of experienced Mexican teachers from different parts of Mexico, united by a love for teaching and Mexican Spanish.
Why “Platicali”?
The name comes from two ideas we love:
Platicar — to chat, talk, or have a conversation, Calli — "house" in Nahuatl, one of the Indigenous languages that has shaped the Spanish spoken in Mexico.

We chose these words because we want Platicali to feel like a little house: a comfortable place where you can practice, make mistakes, ask questions, laugh, and connect with others.
A little piece of Mexico
We wanted our visual identity to have a little piece of Mexico in it too. Our logo is inspired by a Talavera tile, and the sun in the center represents the warm and welcoming atmosphere we want to create. Even though our classes happen online, we hope that every time you join us, you feel like you’ve been transported to Mexico for a little while.
What we believe
Spanish is spoken in more than 20 countries, and every variety has its own vocabulary, expressions, pronunciation, and culture.

At Platicali, we focus on Mexican Spanish and believe that learning a language should be more than memorizing rules. It should help you understand, communicate, and feel more connected to the Spanish-speaking people around you.
